Glenn Martens, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Antwerp, has run the Paris-based Y/Project label since 2013, offering a postmodern amalgamation of references including gothic grandeur and streetwear. Previously a junior designer alongside Jean Paul Gaultier, Martens left this house to replace the late Yohan Serfaty of Y/Project. Since then, Martens has slowly transformed the brand into something more contemporary and versatile. Y/Project is known for combining conceptual and inventive details with playful proportions, and an artful take on historical references, offering an eclectic mix of styles. Martens' contemporary expression has created a fascinating narrative for the brand, leading to an impressive period of popularity and growth.
